Toyota is in the news again for more recalls. Two car accidents and 18 injuries have been the result of faulty airbags and windshield wipers. Over the last few years, Toyota has also recalled vehicles due to faulty brakes, steering wheels, gas pedals and floor mats.
The defective airbags affect 725,000 Corolla and Corolla Matrix cars sold in 2003 and 2004. The defective airbags are known to deploy involuntarily. The defective windshield wipers affect 270,000 Lexus IS models sold between 2006 and early 2012. The wipers are known to fail when snow fall is heavy.
After the previous recalls by Toyota, executives promised to improve quality controls and recall procedures.
