Before you hire a Kansas injury attorney or a Kansas injury lawyer read this.

A lot of people ask me why I became a personal injury attorney in Wichita, Kansas. Its sort of a long story but here it goes…I was born in Wichita and spend my entire grade school career in the Goddard school system. When I graduated, I couldn’t wait to leave Kansas. I went to Texas, where I graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business management and a concentration in computer science. I then went to a small college outside of Philadelphia, PA to complete an MBA. Finally, I returned to Lawrence, KS where I got my law degree at the University of Kansas.

In the process of staying in other areas of the country, I realized something. I realized that my morals and the things I valued the most were right here in Kansas. Hard work, honesty and family values have always been a part of our Kansas heritage. I never realized until I left Kansas just how much of a Kansan I really am.

Because I am Kansas born and raised, nothing made me angrier than to see a Kansan have their trust abused by some big insurance company. I watched insurance companies make hollow promises of having family values; but there were no good neighbors, no good hands and no kind hearted Gecko’s. They were companies that put profits over people and money over morals. I realized that I could serve no greater good as a lawyer than to dedicate my life to helping injured Kansans rebuild their lives by standing up to big insurance companies. Trial lawyer is a bad word in the media today but I wear the title proudly because I know that as a Kansas personal injury lawyer I am protecting the people of Kansas from big insurance.

For almost 20 years I have devoted my life to making sure that injured Kansans receive the justice they deserve and the money they need to make up for the harms they experienced that cannot be helped or fixed. In the process, that has meant I have had to go toe to toe with big insurance companies and their lawyer to protect my clients. As a result, I have tried over 60 civil injury trials in my career. There are less than five lawyers under the age of fifty in the state of Kansas who have taken on big insurance in a Courtroom as often as I have.

You may be scared about how your medical bills will be paid or how you are going to make it while you are off work due to injuries. I understand, and my job is to take away the fear, eliminate the uncertainty and to destroy the advantage that big insurance companies have.

You may also be thinking you just want to get your case settled and get on with your life so you don’t need a Courtroom lawyer. The problem is that only Courtroom lawyers can get you a good settlement. If you want a quick settlement for 40 cents on the dollar, you probably should look for another lawyer because that’s not how I handle cases. Because we prepare every case as if it’s going to trial, we often get settlements for a full and fair value without going to trial.

By preparing a case as if it’s going to trial, we know how to explore and investigate all the possible losses you might suffer from an injury now and in the future. For example, if you have a torn meniscus in your knee from a car wreck, a doctor can perform a surgery that will get you feeling pretty close to 100 percent. However, a surgical repair of the meniscus will substantially increase the risk of arthritis in the knee and the need for a total knee replacement 15-20 years down the road. Sure you can get a quick settlement for some money on a case like this but that won’t help you twenty years from now when you need a new knee and can’t work because of the activity restrictions. The quick settlement lawyers can help you now but they won’t take care of your future.

You owe it to yourself, your spouse, your children and grandchildren, to make sure you hire a lawyer that understands the long term consequences of an injury.

Not everyone can be a client of mine because I need client’s who are willing to work on their case as hard as I do in order to maximize the value. I don’t parade uninjured actors in front of you on television, shouting about the millions of dollars they never got. I won’t settle your case for 40 cents on the dollar simply because that’s all the insurance company is offering. I won’t tell you to settle quick. I do promise to be your friend, to help try to take away the fear and uncertainty, and to give you an honest evaluation of your case…good or bad.

When a client comes in to talk to me, I or another lawyer will always handle the initial meeting. You won’t be pushed off to a paralegal that has never even seen the inside of a Courtroom. I will ask you lots of questions and answer any questions you have. Because I take every case seriously, I don’t accept just any case.
