How much is my case worth?

A: The value of a person’s case can depend on many things. It can depend first on the strength of the evidence showing that somebody else was at fault for your harms and losses. For example, if there is a dispute about who ran a red light the strength of the evidence showing that other person is responsible for your injuries might be weak.

Another area that affects the value of the case is the strength of the evidence showing the cause of your losses. For example, if you were claiming you lost your job because of your injuries but your boss is saying you lost your job because you got in an argument with him it may affect the potential value of your wage loss claim.

The third and final component of what affects the value of your case is the types of damages you have in your injury case. Generally there are three kinds of damages that can be recovered if you have a personal injury case, medical bills, lost wages, and human losses. Human losses are the losses that occur to you as a person that cannot be helped or cannot be fixed and therefore have to made up with money. Human losses include pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent disability, or the aggravation of a pre-existing condition.

Few lawyers know how to present these types of damages at trial, but this is the most significant part of your case. If you have been injured it is important during your healing process to keep track of significant events along the way where you have experienced pain, mental anguish, or your permanent disabilities have prevented you from doing activities that were important to you. These notes will help you be able to re-tell in an accurate way the full nature and extent of the losses that you have experienced as a result of someone else’s negligence.

In order to make sure this is done properly you should consult an experienced personal injury lawyer. If you have any questions do not hesitate to call (316) 269-1414.
