Jogger Killed by Loose Dogs

Authorities say the four pit bulls suspected of killing a 63-year-old jogger are still at large. Although they have captured several dogs in search of the pit bulls, they are not certain that they have the four aggressive dogs.

Thursday morning, a woman driving witnessed the dogs attacking the female jogger and called police. She attempted to scare the dogs off by honking her horn, but to no avail. When authorities arrived, one dog was still attacking the woman. The dog then tried to attack the police officer until he fired his weapon. The dog then took off into the desert.

The woman died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Later the same day, authorities used a search warrant on a home nearby the attack and confiscated eight dogs, six of them pit bulls and two of them of mixed breeds. It is unclear whether they were the dogs involved in the attack.

Residents in the area say it is not uncommon for dogs to come into the area without owners and have attacked people before. The authorities do not know if the dogs were wearing collars or had owners.
